IPOS Declares Yet More Excluded Days
IPOS (the Intellectual Property Office of Singapore) has today announced a further period of excluded days (6 June 2022 to 8 June 2022). This is the third period of excluded days to be declared this year.
IPOS Registries Practice Direction No. 3 of 2022
IPOS has issued Registries Practice Direction No. 3 of 2022. This Practice Direction states that Monday 6 June 2022 to Wednesday 8 June 2022 are excluded days.
The first working day after this period is Thursday 9 June 2022.
Effect of Excluded Days on Deadlines
This Practice Direction effectively extends the period of excluded days starting from Thursday 26 May 2022 and ending on 5 June 2022, declared as excluded days by Registries Practice Direction No. 2 of 2022, to Wednesday 8 June 2022.
If deadline falls on a day which is declared as an excluded day, and one does not meet the deadline on that day, the deadline will be extended automatically to the next non-excluded day which is a working day. Thus, the deadline will be treated as having been met, if you do whatever you would have needed to have done to meet the deadline on the first working day after the excluded day.
Therefore, any deadline falling within the period of 26 May 2022 and 8 June 2022 may be met if the action is taken (and any fee paid), by Monday 9 June 2022.
